HOTEL REAL INTERCONTINENTAL METROCENTER
InterContinental’s central location in Managua is hard to beat. The hotel lobby is large attractive and welcoming, and the rooms (137 in total, including 6 Junior Suites and 37 Club InterContinental rooms) are spacious, with king-size or twin double-size beds, flat screen TV, modern baths. Guest amenities include fitness center, pool, and onsite is the Scenario Bar and the Voltes Restaurant. The Metrocenter mall is conveniently located across the street.

HOTEL LOS ROBLES
Resembling a hacienda from the exterior, this top-of-the-line boutique hotel’s interiors are adorned with ironwork and dark wood antiques. All this leads to a beautiful flowering garden with trickling fountain and a beautiful pool. The 13 rooms are big and airy with hand-crocheted bedspreads, and have bathrooms with high-pressure showers in the shower/bathtub, as well as a small private patio. Count on having both 24-hour room service and a great buffet breakfast, as well a location a short stroll to some of the city’s best restaurants and bars.

HOTEL REAL LA MERCED
A rebuild of a beautiful neoclassic mansion and declared a World Heritage Site, the Real La Merced has 18 rooms, fitted with air conditioning, cable TV, internet and WiFi; the furniture in the social areas is all antique, purchased from collectors and local families to recreate the original spirit of the house. Guest facilities include a restaurant and pool, and of particular note: location, right across from La Merced, perhaps the prettiest church in Granada.

HOTEL COLONIAL
This is a new-build hotel and one that has captured colonial style and character. It has two pools, and a courtyard with bougainvillea spilling over the balconies. The hotel’s rainbow colors spill over into the 30 air conditioned rooms, appointed with queen- and king-size four-poster beds and polished floors; among the 10 suites are suites with giant Jacuzzis and particularly good suites for families. Breakfast is served in the Harlequin restaurant.

HOTEL PLAZA COLON
Located right in front of Parque Colon, here’s a 27-room hotel with a history and an atmosphere of colonial grandeur to match. Set in an elegant historic mansion that has been restored to its original style and architectural ambience, with balconies overlooking the park and cathedral. HOTEL VILLA PARAISO
Friendly, family-owned Hotel Villa Paraiso enjoys a secluded spot beachfront on Playa Santo Domingo where its cozy stone and wood cabins perch on a cliff and sit within a landscaped garden. Most have twin beds and private bathrooms with hot water, some also have a kitchen. All come with air conditioning and a front porch with hammocks and chairs to relax in. There is also a thatched bar and restaurant offering a menu of traditional Nicaraguan dishes and very fresh fish.
HOTEL LUNA DEL RIO
Sitting right by the river, El Castillo town is a quirky little place with its jungle-fringed wooden houses shading vehicle free lanes, all loomed over by the vast hilltop Spanish fort. Luna del Rio is a delightful little eco-lodge is perched riverside and managed by its friendly Spanish owners. There are five small rooms—two of them with balconies overlooking the river rapids, furnished with local handmade furniture, and essential amenities include hot water and air conditioning. There’s a small bar and guests take breakfast on the porch right at the water’s edge. For other meals, the town’s restaurants are close-by.
